- traditionally used to lubricate locks
- still works well
- don't use outdoors
- PTFE is better
WD-40
- "water displacement"
- actually a DEgreaser
- very thin
- works as a lube, but very temporary solution because it drips away
- even water will work as a lubricant for a short time!
- decent penetrating oil
Lithium grease
- great all around grease for medium loads
- Petroleum jelly can substitute
- provides cusion
- stays greasy
PTFE
- spray on Teflon
- dry lubricant, does not collect dust
- pen oiler
Silicone
- extremely slippery
- causes problems with paint
- be mindful of overspray
- dry or wet
Penetrating oil
- unsticks stuck fasteners
- WD-40 is okay, but PB Blaster is better
Bees Wax
- wood drawers
- wood windows
- skis
